This year, the Digital Accelerator of Latvia (DAoL) project, implemented by a number of Latvian universities, including Riga Technical University, and industry partners, plans to launch a programme to support the development of digital skills of company employees. Last year, various events and activities were implemented to create digital success stories in Latvia.

The aim of the Recovery Fund's programme will be to improve the digital, robotics and automation skills of micro, small, medium and large Latvian entrepreneurs, including skills to promote exports, high-level digital management skills at the core level of business management and skills to use digital technologies in various business processes. This year, the Latvian Digital Accelerator also plans to launch a mentoring programme to encourage companies to develop and implement new digital products and/or services, thus contributing to their development and commercial success. Additional working groups dedicated to the GovTech or public administration technology sector and drone technology are also planned.

The Latvian Digital Accelerator, with contact points in Riga, Kurzeme, Zemgale, Vidzeme and Latgale and 19 partners, also achieved a lot in 2023, for example, it started working with more than 300 clients. It also completed more than 70 digital maturity tests, created 60 digital roadmaps, held numerous meetings with clients and provided advice on technological solutions, developing a digital transformation strategy, attracting investment, supporting experimentation and piloting. This included more than 30 different training courses offered to clients. Around 50 events were also organised - networking, training webinars, roadshows, conferences and seminars, and five collaborations were established with other European Digital Innovation Hubs - EDIH Vilnius (Lithuania), EDIH4LT (Lithuania), EDIH4IAE.LT (Lithuania), AIRE - AI & Robotics Estonia (Estonia) and eDIH Connect (Belgium).

Last year, the project also started work on the establishment of several thematic working groups. Partners are currently being recruited for the EdTech Working Group, which will work to develop and implement new projects in the field of educational technology at Latvian and EU level in general, higher education, vocational and lifelong learning, and for the Metaverse Working Group, which will learn together to understand the potential of future technologies and see the real business opportunities offered by the 3D universe or metaverse.
