Course Will be Developed to Measure the Life Cycle and Costs of Products and Processes

Riga Technical University (RTU) Faculty of Civil and Mechanical Engineering scientists in cooperation with foreign partners will develop a training content for life cycle and cost analysis of products and their production processes. The course will be aimed at both PhD students and industry employees and will be offered in a summer school.

The training materials will be developed within the EIT RawMaterials KAVA project EPICENTRE (Educational Platform lIfe Cycle assEssmeNt sTRucturEs).

During the project, summer schools will be organised to validate the developed materials in both online and face-to-face sessions.

RTU's partners in the project are TalTech in Estonia, Lulea University of Technology in Sweden, Aarhus University in Denmark and the Slovenian National Building and Civil Engineering Institue in Slovenia. RTU is the lead partner of the project, which is implemented by Diāna Bajāre, tenure professor at the Institute of Materials and Structures of the Faculty of Civil and Mechanical Engineering, Māris Šinka, senior researcher, Laura Vītola, researcher, and Līva Pupure, senior researcher at the Institute of Structural Engineering.

The project started in January and will run for three years.

Bringing together more than 300 leading industrial companies, universities and research organisations from 20 countries, EIT RawMaterials is one of the largest consortia in the world using support tools to strengthen collaboration, promote knowledge sharing, start-ups and innovative solutions at all stages of the product life cycle, from exploration, extraction and processing to substitution, recycling and the circular economy.
