In November 2015, State Education Development Agency approved RTU project EEZ/NFI/S/2015/005 «Student and Academic Staff Mobility within the EEA Grant Scholarship Activity (Information Technology)». It allows for students and academic staff members to go for short or long-term mobilities to partner universities within this project- either University of Liechtenstein or University of Iceland.

As the project is developing, first mobilities are soon to be expected. In February a student from Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology will be going to University of Liechtenstein for 5 month mobility. Since the student is in his 2nd year Master level studies, he will be developing most of his thesis there, combining the knowledge obtained both in Latvia and in the upcoming semester in Liechtenstein. For each month of mobility, the student will also receive a scholarship of 1200 EUR per month, which is considerably higher when compared to other mobility scholarships.

The dean of FCSIT J. Grundspenķis will also be using the mobility possibilities for academic staff, going for 2 weeks to University of Iceland. Within the mobilities it is planned to compare the best practices for teaching and learning methods for students in information technology field, as well as discussing on possible co-operation possibilities for both universities in the future, not only within the project.

There are still open spaces available to participate in the mobilities, and to get extra information on the terms and possibilities, please contact the International Relations department in  Administrative building in RTU, located in Kalķu Street 1.
