RTU Center of High Energy Physics and Accelerator Technologies research and practise various technological applications that are connected not only to the high-energy particle physics and accelerator technologies but also to other relevant fields. These technologies are applied at many different collaborative research projects.
High energy physics is a branch of physics studying highly excited states of matter and probing matter on the subatomic scale. Nowadays the most fundamental questions in this field are the evolution of our Universe and understanding what it is composed of (95% of it is the so called dark matter and dark energy).
In the field of Accelerator Technologies, RTU has considerable expertise, which is enhanced by participation in various projects and activities.
RTU Center of High Energy Physics and Accelerator Technologies together with industry partners from Baltic Scientific Instruments and SAF Tehnika work together to participate in relevant CERN projects, where detector technologies play important role.
Physicists at CERN laboratory work on experiments ranging from nuclear to high-energy physics. Furthermore, due to possible exposure to dangerous materials and presence of highly complex machinery, a significant share of experimental areas falls under harsh environment category.
Additive manufacturing technology and its applications steadily grew from the niche product to the multipurpose manufacturing solution, which today is being applied in many fields of mechanical engineering and machine building technologies.
