Training tool issued to help young people in searching for job or internship places

The Career Centre of Riga Technical University (RTU) has developed a training tool «No sludinājuma līdz pirmajai darba dienai» (EN – «From Advertisement to the First Workday» that will help young people in searching for their job or practice places.

The development of this training tool has been inspired by colleagues from the Career Centre of the Technical University of Denmark. The author of the idea is psychologist of RTU Career Support and Services Department Viktorija Gaina. Its development has been supported by her colleagues from RTU Career Support and Services Department Una Vorma, Eva Patmalniece, Lelde Saleniece, Lauma Simona Vēvere, Gundega Selga Horste and Linda Madelāne.

«What CV should be sent to an employer to get to the coveted workplace?» Such a question is often received by RTU career advisers. To make the path to the first working day really effective, RTU Career Support and Services Department offers to think more broadly. Based on several years of experience in working with Latvian and foreign companies and consulting young people, a workbook has been created which contains practical tasks and recommendations from career support experts. They will help to analyse the experience gained, improve one’s CV and motivation letter, prepare for a job interview more successfully and get the desired job or practice place. To achieve the result, the authors of the workbook recommend to go through all tasks and recommendations step-by-step.

The training tool is available electronically in English. In a printed format, you can obtain the material from RTU Student Service. During the course of the academic year, special seminars will also be held for students.
