The Baltic University Programme is hosting sustainable development seminars «BUPRaP Roadshow» at RTU

As part of its efforts to support members of The Baltic University Programme in strenghtening their research and publication profiles, on 7 March, The Baltic Research and Publications Office (BUPRaP) will host free sustainable development seminars. The seminars will happen in person and take place at the scientific library of Riga Technical University (5 Paula Valdena street). Participation is free of charge.

The Baltic Research and Publications Office (BUPRaP) is a research and publications infrastructure led by the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences in Germany, which aims to support the Baltic University Programme in developing their research infrastructure and foster their capacity to publish their research in peer-reviewed journals. 

It will be called «BUPRaP Roadshow», offering interested members two seminars:

1. Seminar «Optimising Efforts in Scientific Publishing on Sustainable Development»

Scope: this seminar will explore the key elements of scientific publishing, including manuscript preparation, peer review, ethical considerations, publication metrics, and future trends. It will also outline the details on the scientific publishing process, including the types of scientific publication, the roles of authors, reviewers, and editors, and the importance of publishing for researchers. Tips and strategies for selecting the right journal to submit your research paper (journal’s scope, impact factor, audience, and editorial policies) will also be provided. A questions and answers section is included, to allow researchers to present their paper ideas, and offer advice on potential journals which thay may consider for publishing  their work.

2. Seminar «Fostering Scientific Cooperation via European and Non-European Funded Projects on Sustainable Development»

Scope: this seminar  will explore the advantages of scientific cooperation on matters related to sustainable development, describe the role of major networks such as the Baltic University Programme, the European School of Sustainability Science and Research and others, as source of information on project funding. In addition, the seminar will introduce a variety of European and non-European funding programmes, which may be accessed by members of the Baltic University Programme, as possible funding sources for their projects. A questions and answers section is included, to allow researchers to present their project ideas, and offer advice on potential funding sources.

The Baltic University Programme is one of the largest university cooperations in the world, with over 100 participating universities cooperating on education and research on sustainable development and democracy. The participating universities are situated within the 14 countries in the drainage area of the Baltic Sea.
