Get involved with Science at RTU

Scientific research at the university is an important part of the study process and is carried out within every study program. The strategic goal of RTU research is to analyse and provide solutions to requested technical and social problems.

Various platforms are available for practical involvement in research and science at RTU. (Read more about them at rtu.lv/lv/zinatne)

RTU labs and workshops are the perfect place for you to dive into the exciting world of science!

A comprehensive list of labs and workshops is still being compiled, but here are some of them.

RTU «LATVENERGO» CREATIVE LAB

In cooperation with “Latvenergo” AS, the Faculty of Electrical and Environmental Engineering has set up a creative workshop for students, aimed at developing students’ practical skills in electronics and electrical engineering, as well as promoting interest on these areas both among pupils and our existing and future students. In their free time at the workshop students can get a consultation from teaching staff on their own initiative and develop electronic and electrotechnical circuit layouts, printed extensive design, scheme soldering and testing, as well as microcontroller programming.

The “Latvenergo” AS creative lab has 12 workplaces, equipped with various mechanical processing tools, testing and measuring equipment. It is constantly improving and replenishing with new equipment.

The lab is located on Āzenes Street 12 / k1 - room 219.

RTU ROBOTICS CLUB

The RTU Robotics Club unites people associated with the interest in the construction of robots. The goal of the club is to promote interest in robots and related industries such as electronics, mechanics, and programming. The club also aims to develop robotics movement in Latvia, train new robot builders and build world-class robots.

Leads are given the opportunity to learn the basics of robotics by making simple race robots under the guidance of experienced builders, among other things they can implement their projects, and engage themselves in other Robotics Club activities. RTU Robotics Club members often host offsite workshops and seminars for pupils and other interested members, in such way introducing robotics to others and learning pedagogical skills for themselves. The Robotics Club educates and trains anyone with interest and enthusiasm, no prior knowledge needed. However, it is important to understand that a robot cannot be built in one day. This is a long, complex process requiring patience and determination, perseverance, and dedication. Since this club is completely voluntary, it is important for participants to understand that they will also have to work independently, using others as sources of inspiration and knowledge. At the end of the day, when enthusiasm and patience will be rewarded with the success of a task, the joy will be worth it!
