RTU LMA library is the largest library of a maritime higher education institution in Latvia. It provides access to the information relevant to the field of study, for study and research purposes, by offering information resources in the library collection, as well as by ordering information resources from other libraries. On the first floor of the building, a separate room houses the library's subscription collection, a repository and a reading room with 40 user workstations and free access to the collection. On the second floor there are two computer rooms and a conference hall with 150 seats.
The library provides study and reference literature, access to databases and periodicals, services for students and academic staff - computer workstations for daily study, copying, printing, etc. The library collection is compiled in accordance with the study programmes of LMA, which are based on the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) and in cooperation with the academic staff of LMA.
The library offers consultations on the use of e-services, as well as training to students and academic staff to improve information search skills, compiling and formatting bibliographic references.
The library offers the latest maritime literature and periodicals in the reading room, as well as the possibility to check out the necessary educational literature for the academic year on subscription.
