All RTU Latvian Maritime Academy full-time students are provided with internship and/or shipboard practice opportunities according to their selected specialisation. In order to ensure internship opportunities for students, RTU LMA cooperates with shipping companies, crewing agencies, other maritime-industry related companies and foreign maritime educational institutions by signing a cooperation agreement. In accordance with the director of the selected study programme, students may choose a different institution for their internship according to their needs and/or interests.
Since autumn 2022, once a month meetings with representatives of various cruising companies are organised for RTU LMA students in order to inform students about current internship, shipboard practice and job opportunities. Both students and cruising companies welcome these meetings as an opportunity to find out the necessary information in person and agree on the terms of cooperation.
