Our story began in 1937, when a small potato processing plant was established in Ungurpils. Today we are one of the leading potato starch brands globally. In 2021 Latvian based company IRLMD Food Solutions acquired the majority stake in Aloja Starkelsen. IRLMD FS was founded by a group of investors from many nationalities, who collectively have more than three hundred years of experience at senior management level in the global food ingredients industry. The company is led by CEO and major shareholder Maurizio Decio, who has more than 30 years of experience in various senior roles (both managerial and scientific) in the food ingredients industry.
