UAE Delegation Learns About RTU’s Contribution to Science and Innovation

On 22 May, a delegation from the United Arab Emirates led by Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visited Riga Technical University (RTU) to learn about the research, projects and prototypes already developed by RTU scientists and students.

The guests met with RTU management - Rector Tālis Juhna and Vice-Rector for Innovations Liene Briede, visited the Water Research and Environmental Biotechnology Laboratory of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technologies and the Science and Innovation Centre, and learned about several research projects and prototypes already developed by RTU scientists and students.

The delegation of the United Arab Emirates arrived in Latvia on a working visit and met with the President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs, Prime Minister Evika Siliņa, Minister of Foreign Affairs Baiba Braže and Head of the NATO Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence Jānis Sārts, as well as attended the opening ceremony of the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Latvia.

Latvian and UAE officials discussed topical issues of global security and bilateral relations, including Latvia's export promotion potential, cooperation in the academic and innovation sectors.
