The seminar «RTU Cybersecurity Landscape» took place on March 19th at Riga Technical University Domus Auditorialis, providing a platform to address current issues within the cybersecurity domain. Organized by RTU FCSITE Institute of Information Technology in collaboration with the National Coordination Centre (NCC-LV) established under the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Latvia, alongside industry representatives from Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. and Fortinet Baltics, the event aimed to equip RTU students, faculty, and researchers with invaluable insights into the prevailing cybersecurity landscape, as well as strategies for addressing existing challenges and anticipating future ones.

A panel of experts led discussions on a variety of topics. Associate Professor Andrejs Romānovs from RTU informed about current trends in cybersecurity education. Mihails Potapovs from the NCC-LV offered valuable insights into Latvian cybersecurity. Gintars Pelenis from Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. prompted attendees to contemplate the impact of artificial intelligence on cybersecurity. Lastly, Aigars Leončiks from Fortinet Baltics elaborated on the development directions and trends of cybersecurity solutions.

Given the escalating importance of cybersecurity concerns, plans are underway to host similar seminars on a regular basis in the future. Such endeavours play a crucial role in not only disseminating awareness but also in educating society on these critical issues.

The NCC-LV project is carried out by the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Latvia under the Digital Europe programme and is co-funded by the European Union.
