Representatives of «Hartmann Shipping Services» visit RTU Latvian Maritime Academy

On April 11, the representatives of «Hartmann Reederei» - Capt. Jens Grassmann, Director HR, and Vanessa Gerdes, Training Manager, visited the Latvian Maritime Academy of Riga Technical University (RTU LMA). They discussed cooperation opportunities with RTU LMA Acting Director Edijs Štāls and LMA staff, as well as had a meeting with students.

Capt. Jens Grassmann presented students with the company's merchant fleet and new ships going to be built until 2025, as well as the company's aim to become the world's leading gas fuel carrier in two or three years.
Vanessa Gerdes, Training Manager at «Hartmann Reederei», listed the opportunities for practical training on board «Hartmann Reederei» ships, the company's cadet programme for students from Germany, Latvia, Poland, Ukraine and China, as well as promotion opportunities in the company. Guests also offered cooperation and support for the organization of RTU LMA study process.
RTU LMA Acting Director Edijs Štāls welcomed the guests at RTU LMA saying that «the maritime industry is advancing rapidly and the demand for highly skilled seafarers – ship officers – is increasing each year, and we have to keep in touch with industry representatives».  He promised to continue the ongoing cooperation, as well as inform the students about possibilities of practical training on board the ships of the company.
RTU LMA prepares highly qualified deck and engine room, as well as electro-technical officers that are required in the industry, and is open to cooperation with maritime companies and organizations.
