Maritime School

RTU Latvian Maritime Academy Maritime School is a structural unit of RTU Latvian Maritime Academy. It is a vocational secondary school that prepares pupils for work on board ships. RTU LMA Maritime school graduates get fourth-level vocational secondary education diploma, depending on the selected study programme. RTU LMA Maritime school is one of the only two vocational secondary schools of this profile in Latvia. 

RTU LMA Maritime school provides 4-year training in the following accredited training programmes:

• "Marine engineering" with the qualification to be awarded "Watchkeeping engineer on ships with main engine power less than 3000 kW"
• "Maritime transport" with the qualification to be awarded "Watchkeeper on vessels of less than 3000 GT"

In addition to the studies, the school programme includes two internships.

The Maritime school admits persons after 9th grade. RTU LMA Maritime school is free of charge, the language of instruction is Latvian. During the studies, pupils receive a scholarship, the amount of which depends on their performance during the course of studies.
