Bloomberg Laboratory will be opened on 23 January at Riga Technical University (RTU), providing students and researchers with access to a wide range of real-time databases, research and analysis tools. This will improve the scientific quality and enhance competitiveness of students and researchers in the labour market.
«Bloomberg database is very broad, covering all the world’s financial data, data on companies, securities, transactions, marketing activities, real estate and other taxes, and much more. It will provide both students and researchers with access to vast amount of high-reliability online data, and will improve the quality of scientific activities,» says Chair of the RTU Senate, Professor Elīna Gaile-Sarkane.
Bloomberg Laboratory has 12 specially equipped terminals available to all RTU students and researchers. It has been established to improve the RTU study environment within the EU specific aid objective 8.1.1 «Development of Infrastructure of Riga Technical University for Modernization of STEM Study Programs». The overall objective of the project is to increase the number of modernized STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) programs, including the medical and creative industries. By fulfilling it, RTU continues to develop the most modern engineering centre in the Baltic region.
To enable RTU students and researchers to make full and meaningful use of the opportunities provided by the new Bloomberg Laboratory, RTU will also organise special training courses delivered by Bloomberg experts. «Interested parties will have the opportunity to be certified at Bloomberg offices, thereby enhancing their competitiveness in the labour market, which is particularly useful if the professional activity is related to the financial or insurance sector,» emphasises E. Gaile-Sarkane.
