Riga Technical University (RTU), ranked 201-250 in QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2021, a ranking developed by the prestigious ranking agency QS World University Rankings. RTU achieved the best results in the indicator of employer-student cooperation. This confirms that RTU study programs are highly valued in the labor market not only locally, but also internationally, and RTU prepares high-quality specialists necessary for the national economy.
This ranking evaluates the reputation of higher education institutions among employers, graduates' achievements, cooperation between higher education institutions and employers, cooperation between students and employers, and employment of graduates.
RTU has received 95.8 points out of 100 possible for the cooperation of the highest rated employers and students in the ranking, ranking 32nd among other universities in the world. The second-best indicator is the achievements of graduates, and RTU ranks 202nd in this criterion.
RTU pays special attention to the development of students' careers – study programs are developed in cooperation with employers to provide students with appropriate knowledge that meets the needs of the industry. RTU has also been praised by employers at the local level. For the last ten years RTU has been most recommended university by employers in the survey of Latvian higher education institutions, organized by the Latvian Employers' Confederation in cooperation with the career and education portal prakse.lv.
Subsequently, the monitoring data of Ministry of Education and Science (2019) on university graduates confirms that RTU graduates, two years after graduating RTU, earn 56% more than the average employee in Latvia. This is the highest income indicator of graduates in comparison with other multidisciplinary universities in Latvia.
RTU has an active Career Center which annually organizes the largest student professional orientation event in Latvia – Career Day. This event brings together more than 100 companies and 2,000 students, provides career development consultations and educational events.
A total of 679 higher education institutions have been evaluated in the QS Graduate Employability Rankings this year, but 550 have been included.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology ranks first, Stanford University second, and the University of California third.
