Rector of Tallinn University of Technology will Visit RTU

Rector, Academician of Tallinn University of Technology (TUT) Jaak Aaviksoo will visit Riga Technical University (RTU) on 6 September. He will meet RTU administration, as well as visit RTU campus in Ķīpsala.

During his visit, J. Aaviksoo will meet RTU Rector, Academician Leonīds Ribickis, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Professor Uldis Sukovskis, Vice-Rector for Finance, Professor Ingars Eriņš, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development Artūrs Zeps, Deputy Vice-Rector for Research, Professor Gatis Bažbauers, Chair of RTU Senate, Professor Elīna Gaile-Sarkane, as well as Director of RTU International Relations Department Liene Maurīte.

RTU and TUT have long-standing cooperation in various fields of research. Both universities have signed Erasmus+ agreement; they collaborate within BALTECH (Baltic Sea Region University Consortium for Science and Technology) by implementing international Master Study Programme «Industrial Engineering and Management» jointly elaborated by seven higher education institutions of the Consortium.

J. Aaviksoo has been serving as the Rector of TUT since 1 September 2015. He studied theoretical physics at the University of Tartu and graduated from it in 1976. J. Aaviksoo is one of the leading scientists in Estonia with an extensive international experience, as well as a notable politician. He is the former Rector of University of Tartu, who has been the Minister of Defence and Minister of Education and Research of the Republic of Estonia, as well as a member of the Estonian Parliament.
