Students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Transportation and Aeronautics are inviting you to apply for the mouse trap car construction competition «Slazds 2020», where you will need to construct a car model, which will only use a mouse trap spring as a power mechanism for mobility. The competition will be held on March 21st at Riga Technical University, Kaļķu Street 1, and will be taking place for the first time ever.
Both students and pupils are invited to participate in the competition by forming teams of two or three participants. The teams will be given needed construction materials and tools on the day of the competition. The construction time is limited to three hours and the weight of the vehicle cannot exceed 500 grams. The jury will then evaluate the vehicles based on the regulatory rules, and the cars that qualify will be judged in two categories - based on their traveled distance and their visual design. There will be three awarded teams in each category.
The competition will begin with registration at 9:00, at 10:00 the model construction will begin and will continue until 14:00 with a break from 12:00 to 13:00, during which construction will be halted. Evaluation of structures will begin shortly after 14:00, but testing and awards will take place from 14:00 until 16:30.
Team registration is open until March 18 at 11:59 PM.
