Latvian Ambassador to Italy Attends the Closing of Summer School «Nonlinear Life. Edition 3» Organized by RTU and University of Trieste

On August 30th the Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to the Republic of Italy H.E. Ms Solvita Aboltina visited Trieste, Italy to give a speech as a part of the conclusion of the international summer school «Nonlinear Life. Edition 3» organized by University of Trieste (UniTs) and Riga Technical University (RTU). After the official closing, Ms Aboltina and Pro-Rector of UniTs, Professor Valter Sergo, hosted a meeting for representatives of UniTs and the «Nonlinear Life. Edition 3» organizing committee from RTU.

Ms Aboltina, accompanied by the Director of Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Nanotechnologies of RTU, Professor Jurijs Dehtjars and representative of the International Cooperation Unit of RTU, Mr Eriks Badamsins, also visited the Municipality of Trieste and met with the Councillor for European Projects, Mr Lorenzo Giorgi, and Head of Communication Office, Ms Barbara Borsi.

The idea of «Nonlinear Life» was created by the Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Nanotechnologies of RTU and brought to life with the help of International Cooperation and Foreign Students Department. The first two summer schools took place in Riga, but this year «Nonlinear Life» travelled to Italy. The summer school was attended by 18 students from 11 countries - Belarus, Czech Republic, India, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Nepal, Poland, Russia, Serbia and Spain.  

By organizing this summer school, UniTs and RTU aim to help prepare specialists in inter-disciplinary fields, capable of not only developing high-tech products, but also successfully integrating themselves within the working environment of international companies and implementing different inter-disciplinary projects in a team. World's leading researchers, representing different fields and countries, have been involved in the preparation of the scientific content of the summer school, promoting cooperation opportunities of a scientific nature between students and professors and strengthening the international recognition of TU and RTU.

The organizational committee would like to express their gratitude to the Professors for their contribution to the scientific content of the summer school, to the advanced research institutions and companies operating in the biomedical field for providing excursions and presentations, as well as students for participating and broadening each other’s knowledge both on the technical as well as inter-cultural level.
