International Week will take place at RTU

The Riga Technical University’s (RTU) 7th International Week where the representatives for international cooperation and financial administration of 21 universities will discuss good practice and the challenges in internationalisation, budget establishment and acquirement of funds’ financing will take place from May 28 to June 1. 53 representatives from 43 universities will participate in the International Week and this is the first time RTU’s International Week has gathered such a large crowd of participants and a high number of represented universities.

The opening of RTU International Week will take place on Monday May 28 at 10AM in the Scientific Library of RTU at Paula Valdena Street No. 5, and it will be opened with a celebratory address by RTU Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs professor Uldis Sukovskis.

During the International Week the representatives of RTU International Cooperation and Foreign Students Department will lead a seminar where the issues related to application, implementation and administration of Erasmus+ projects will be discussed, conferring about the current issues related to internationalisation of universities as well. Moreover, the professor of Riga Stradins University Deniss Hanovs will speak on the issue whether and how cultural differences can facilitate inclusion.

The employees of RTU Office of Vice-Rector for Finance will lead a seminar where the finance field specialists from the universities represented in the International Week will share their experience on the administration of project financing. The participants of the International Week will also work in working groups where they will have the chance to gain in-depth understanding on the principles of financial administration and budget establishment of other universities. The participants will also inform on the attraction of different fund financing and its acquirement in the implementation of projects.

Within the framework of the International Week different lectures, presentations and discussions will take place, as well as individual visits by the participants to RTU faculties and administrative departments.

The International Week is a substantial event that is significant for establishing new contacts and consolidating the existing partnerships. During this week new cooperation agreements are initiated that are successfully used by RTU students, scholars and staff.
