CEO of Deutsche Post DHL visits RTU

«Economic growth is determined by three factors: open borders, excellent infrastructure and good education,» emphasized CEO of Deutsche Post DHL, mail and logistics services company, Frank Appel during his lecture at Riga Technical University (RTU) on 24 February.

F. Appel is responsible for global management of the world's leading mail and logistics services group. During his lecture he talked about Deutsche Post DHL activities, strategy and goals. F. Appel pointed out that in the field of digitalization this Group is the leader in delivery services industry and pays a lot of attention to elaboration and implementation of innovations. For example, in Germany electric vehicles – Street Scooters – are used, which have been elaborated according to the needs of delivery services industry. At present, the company is testing drones that could be used for delivery and dispatch.

CEO of Deutsche Post DHL emphasized the positive aspects of globalization and pointed out that the set of three factors – open borders, excellent infrastructure and good education – was a prerequisite for economic growth. However, the goal of the company should not be only benefits measured in numbers, but it should also be socially responsible for both clients and employees. F. Appel pointed out, «the client won’t be satisfied if employee is dissatisfied».

Lecture was attended by RTU students who study logistics, international business, customs and taxes, as well as students majoring in other fields.
