This year, RTU is launching its first Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) on Biomedical Engineering and Medical Physics «Nonlinear Life. Edition 6». It will be delivered in the manner of the convergence sciences approach, covering engineering disciplines related to human health.

ABOUT
The summer school «Nonlinear Life» has been launched by Riga Technical University (RTU) in 2017 with continuation in 2018 (Riga, Latvia), 2019 (Trieste, Italy), 2021 (Online) and 2022 (Bergamo, Italy and Riga, Latvia). The 5th Edition took place in 2022, being structured as a one-week virtual school and the unique option to add a one-week in presence internship at the University of Bergamo or/and at RTU. 

ERASMUS+ BIP 2023 
This year, RTU is launching its first Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) on Biomedical Engineering and Medical Physics «Nonlinear Life. Edition 6». It will be delivered in the manner of the convergence sciences approach, covering engineering disciplines related to human health.
Converging sciences teams will be formed to develop engineering project concepts under the supervision of scientists of the partnering universities. In addition, participants will have the unique opportunity to attend the lectures and workshops of the 19th Nordic-Baltic Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Medical Physics (NBC 2023), held in Liepaja from June 12th to 14th 2023.
The programme combines an online activity and a one-week physical activity, taking place in two cities of Latvia – Liepaja and Riga:
  1. Introduction to the course organization | June 5, 2023 | Virtual Component
  2. Self-learning and preparation for the Project before arrival in Latvia | June 6 – 9, 2023 |Virtual Component 
  3. Lectures and project concept development | June 12 – 14, 2023| Physical Part in Liepaja
  4. Project concept development, student’s presentation of the project and Closing ceremony| June 15 – 16, 2023| Physical Part in Riga
  5. Language: fully taught in English
  6. 3 ECTS will be awarded upon successful completion
TARGET GROUP 

BSc, MSc, and PhD students interested to pursue their career as engineers of medical physical technologies, who can work at health care institutions – hospitals, health centres, rehabilitation institutions, specialization centres, laboratories as attendants of medical devices or managers, certification and control institutions, manufactories, projecting and scientific institutions.

FINANCES  
  • You can employ an Erasmus+ scholarship (70 EUR/day) for your stay in Liepaja and Riga to be provided by your home University;
  • Accommodation, transportation (transfer from Riga to Liepaja and back), lunch and social programme is provided by RTU (travel costs need to be covered by the participants);
  • No fees for the BIP will be charged.
