In 2006, competition for the titles RTU Scientist of the Year and RTU Young Scientist of the Year was announced for the first time to promote research activity at RTU, facilitate involvement of young scientists in research and evaluate RTU research achievements. In 2015, competition for an honorary title of RTU Young Female Scientist of the Year was announced.

The annual competition for the award «RTU Young Scientist of the Year» was launched in 2006 with the aim to promote scientific research development at RTU, to involve young scientists in research activities and evaluate the results of the scientific research of RTU scientists.
