Innovation Ecosystem Development Unit

The Innovation Ecosystem Development Unit of the Science and Innovation Centre ensures RTU participation in local and national innovation ecosystems of specialised areas through local and international education, business support, research and networking programmes.

The unit stimulates the cooperation of RTU with state and local authorities, non-governmental organisations, scientific institutions and industry representatives from different sectors, as well as foreign partners, focusing on sustainability issues.
The Innovation Ecosystem Development Unit implements four activities of the Knowledge and Innovation Communities of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) in Latvia – EIT Climate-KIC, EIT Food, EIT RawMaterials, EIT Urban Mobility, supporting innovation in climate technologies, food, materials and mobility.

The unit coordinates the participation of RTU as a partner in the «Cooperation-based development of sustainable and safe food systems to achieve the objectives of «Food2030» project financed by Horizon2020» or CITIES2030.

EIT Food HUB Latvia

EIT Food is the Knowledge and Innovation Community of the European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT), joined by Riga Technical University in 2019, obtaining the right to organise an innovation and cooperation contact point or HUB in Latvia.

EIT RawMaterials Baltic Hub

In 2019, Riga Technical University, Kaunas University of Technology and Tallinn University of Technology established the EIT RawMaterials contact point of the Knowledge and Innovation Community of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) – EIT RawMaterials Baltic Hub, which helps Baltic scientists and businesses to create competitive innovations in the field of raw materials.

EIT Urban Mobility RIS HUB Latvia

In 2021, Riga Technical University, VEFRESH innovation movement, Riga City Council and Latvijas Mobilais Telefons established the Regional Innovation Scheme (RIS) contact point of the Knowledge and Innovation Community EIT Urban Mobility of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) in Latvia – EIT Urban Mobility RIS HUB Latvia.EIT Urban Mobility
