The Centre develops student innovation and entrepreneurial capacity, promotes knowledge transfer processes, offers services to entrepreneurs and scientific institutions, and actively involves in local and international innovation ecosystems.

The goal of the Centre activities is to ensure implementation of the RTU strategy and sustainable valorisation goals and growth by promoting scientific activities and the involvement of academic staff and students in innovation and knowledge transfer processes, as well as by developing cooperation with industry and scientific institutions.

The Science and Innovation Centre consists of:
  •  Design Factory
  • Innovative Product Development Unit
  • Innovation Ecosystem Development Unit
  • Scientific Equipment Unit
In order to develop the innovative thinking, creative skills and entrepreneurial capacity of students, the Design Factory, which not only provides access to an open-type workshop «theLAB» but also implements the «Innovation Grants for Students» project (ERDF co-financed project No 1.1.1.3/18/A/001 «RTU Innovation Grants for Students»), is included in the Science and Innovation Centre. Students of all levels will find here a suitable programme for promoting their skills and establishing professional contacts.

The focus of activities of the Innovative Product Development Unit is on the efficient creation of innovative high-value added products, as well as research and improvement of existing products and services in cooperation with industry and scientific institutions.

The Innovation Ecosystem Development Unit promotes RTU involvement in local and international innovation and technology ecosystems, including by implementing programmes of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), performing educational work and supporting startups in the implementation of sustainable business ideas.

The Scientific Equipment Unit supports the development of science by providing modern research equipment and is proud of its High-Performance Computing or HPC Centre, which develops the use of digital technologies in research.
