Rapidly developing technologies and constantly growing volume of information allow us to learn about events in the world, to travel the globe virtually and to get experience of new cultures online. However, none of the new technologies can be a real substitute for a face-to-face conversation and true emotions we experience communicating with the representatives of different cultures.
RTU has created a place, where education, science and culture meet – RTU International Information Centers. It provides a platform for guest lectures on the topical social and scientific issues delivered by representatives of partner universities of RTU, a place where the meetings with cooperation partners, discussions, seminars, receptions and exhibitions are organized.
The Center has a very special atmosphere due to its location in a historical building, which was built in 1890 for the needs of Tsar Peter I Vocational School. At present, the building houses RTU Faculty of E-Learning Technologies and Humanities and Engineering High School.
Address 1 Kronvalda Boulevard
For many years RTU has been developing international academic and cultural cooperation with various countries. International Information Centers serve as platforms for international students and researchers who are currently in Latvia, as well as RTU students and faculty members. We provide consulting services, language courses and support to develop academic and cultural projects.
In 2014, the first courses in the Chinese language were organized at the university, many RTU students and employees expressed willingness to learn more about the Chinese culture and traditions. Great support in this area was provided by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, which made a major contribution to the establishment of the Chinese Corner at the International Cooperation Center in 2016. Since 2019 Confucius Classroom supervised by Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters is open at RTU. It is possible to learn Chinese with professional teachers of South China Normal University using the newest language acquisition technologies and a wide collection of books and videos delivered from China.
