Riga Technical University scientists organized a Technical meeting for ARIES Proof of Concept Fund project Development of hybrid electron accelerator system for the treatment of marine diesel exhaust gases, hosted by RTU and RKB Riga Shipyard.
RTU is a leading partner of this project, which is approved for implementation by ARIES Governing board (ARIES is a Horizon 2020 project meant to promote particle accelerator use for societal applications) and officially will be launched on 10.11. kick-off meeting in Warsaw. Scientists from RTU, Institute of Nuclear Chemistry and Technology - INCT, European Organization for Nuclear Research - CERN, Fraunhofer Institute for Organic Electronics, University of Huddersfield UH, ebeam Technologies Europe – ebeam, Remontowa Marine Design – Remontowa, Milgravja Tehnoloģiskais Parks - Riga Ship Yard - RKB, BIOPOLINEX Sp. z o.o. are keen to start working on Electron Beam Accelerator integration in ships diesel engine exhaust system for exhaust gas cleaning to meet new environmental requirements. Ships exhaust gases are serious pollutant and electron beam treatment will allow to acquire significant reduction of highly aggressive SOx and NOx components in exhaust gases thus reducing damage to nature. Project consortium partners agreed on next steps and are looking forward to meeting in Warsaw already having results for further discussion.
