Why you should study mechanical engineering, transport and aeronautics?

The oldest Latvian academic institution – Riga Technical University – and its most senior – Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Transport and Aeronautics (FMETA) – have had to change their titles several times. But over the time, the quality of education offered by the University has remained consistently high.

Specialists prepared by FMETA are and will be in demand by machinery design and research institutes, passenger, cargo, land and air transport, road transport and logistics companies, freight expedition firms, land and air vehicle maintenance and repair companies, professional and higher education institutions, metalworking, mechanical engineering, wood processing industry, food processing industry and in other manufacturing industries, medical establishments, thermal power plants, cogeneration plants, heating systems design plants.

Each study field represented by FMETA is an essential part of the stabilisation and development of world's future economy.

FMETA is rich:

  • With scientific traditions from the 19th century to the present;
  • Trained high-quality professionals and public employees;
  • With an active student—the motto of which is: «Nature does not love emptiness – the mechs will fill it!».

«Higher education will form the basis for your future life and work, your professional development, and your career. Also note that the years of study spent in life are a special time – be able to appreciate it. Let everyone be creative and not leave «voids» where wonderful fulfillment can be found!» RTU FMETA dean Professor Ēriks Geriņš
