Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics (MMK) is one of the newest departments of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Transport and Aeronautics, merging the existing Department of Machine Engineering and the Department of Materials Processing.

The aim of the department is to ensure high-quality study processes and scientific activities in the fields of mechanical engineering and mechatronics, as well as to promote technology transfer and innovation in cooperation with industry companies and associations.

The department has three laboratories: Metrology Laboratory; SMC Automation Laboratory; Materials Processing Laboratory.

Department provides studies at several levels:

• Academic Bachelor;
• Professional Bachelor's degree (with the qualification of an Engineer) (in Latvian);
• Academic / Professional Master;

within the study programs in English: «Engineering , Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering» and in Latvian «Mechanical and Instrumental Engineering», «Mechatronics» and «Production Technology».
