Academic Master Study Programme «Digital Humanities»

The Academic Master Study Programme «Digital Humanities» provides training of specialists in digital humanities that can seek employment in governmental institutions, publishing houses, archives, libraries, marketing bureaus, institutions of higher education, life-long learning projects, state, municipal, and private enterprises. The concept of the study programme differs from similar study programmes in either Engineering or Humanities, as it ensures students can receive a double qualification. Students with both Bachelor degree in Humantities and related fields and Bachelor degree in Engineering can enroll for the programme.

RTU Faculty of E-Learning Technologies and Humanities has appropriate technical and methodological base and experienced teaching staff for training specialists in digital humanities, who have advanced multidisciplinary IT, knowledge management, communicative, linguistic and research work skills. The expertise of the Faculty of E-Learning Technologies and Humanities and its constituent scientific institutes is unique: teaching staff of the Institute of Applied Linguistics have accumulated significant experience in teaching scientific and technical language for practical applications: critical discourse analysis, rhetoric, text processing, semantics and pragmatics, content and terminology management; the Institute of Humanities has profound experience in teaching humanities with a special focus on e-pedagogy, e-didactics, and media psychology; the Distant Education Study Centre has unique research and technical capacity in project management, media technologies, web, video, and audio content development and management. Other faculties of RTU are also involved in the implementation of the program. Diversity of the units involved in program realization and various fields they specialize in determine cross-disciplinary character of the Academic Master Study Programme «Digital Humanities». Students develop a unique set of transferrable skills and competences that would provide for their competitiveness in the labour market.

Program Contents

Special adjustment study courses are offered to students (depending on their undergraduate degree). Graduates of the study programme should not only develop competence in dealing with the constantly growing volume of information, but also develop subject knowledge in the respective fields.
