The past year was rich in awards at the Faculty of Engineering Economics and Management (FEEM). For the second year in a row, FEEM staff members received excellence awards and development grants from Riga Technical University (RTU).

Professor Inga Lapiņa received the Academic Excellence Award at the end of 2019. Professor Lapiņa has more than 23 years of experience in higher education: in study process management, research, quality assessment and international project management. She has collaborated in the field of education system development as an expert, researcher or project manager in more than 20 projects and studies, promoting interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral international cooperation and research with significant contribution to the improvement of the Latvian education system. She said about the award, “Academic excellence can only be the result of working together, so I believe this is not just my prize. Work in our lives occupies most of our time, and the only way we can feel happy is by doing something that creates value. I am very fortunate in this respect. Academic excellence is created because of the so-called multiplier effect, which enhances this value. That is why I sincerely thank my colleagues and students I work with on a daily basis, both in the Faculty and the University. This nomination is a huge honour for me and gives me confidence that our work together creates value! ”

One year earlier, lecturer Leonards Budņiks was awarded as a young teaching staff member of 2018 for his creative approach to the study process. L.Budņiks has been a lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering Economics and Management since 2014. He has participated in various projects as a researcher.
