The 21st Annual BMDA (Baltic Management Development Association) Conference "Diversity in Management", which took place from April 27-28, 2023, was a great success. Hosted by Riga Technical University in Latvia, the conference brought together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to discuss diversity in the areas of education, business, public sector and culture.

The conference theme, " Diversity in Management," was explored in various keynote speeches, presentations and workshops. The conference program included a wide range of sessions covering topics such as, managing diversity toward greater inclusivity and excellence, managing diversity in a time of crisis and more. The topic of diversity in education management was presented by Artūrs Zeps, RTU Vice-Rector for Strategic Development and Finance (Latvia) and Yaryma Boychuk, Director of UCU Business School (Ukraine). Special workshops for deans and programme directors were organized to discuss the diversity in education management.

One of the key themes that emerged from the conference was the importance of diversity management in fostering an organization's development and growth. As diversity management correlates with the actions taken by the organization seeking to increase the engagement of employees from different backgrounds in the company’s structure, this phenomenon is highly connected with the organization’s short- and long-term results. Furthermore, for an organization to succeed, it must meet the expectations of a multifaceted marketplace and act concerning different cultures, ideas, and philosophies.

Such changes begin to challenge the relevancy of top management leadership based on traditional workplace rules. Furthermore, the importance of uniqueness, individualization versatility take place. Diversity management matters greatly despite the size or type of the organization, its target audience produced goods or developed services.

The conference provided an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas, network with peers, and learn about the latest trends in the field. During the conference BMDA awards were presented.

Overall, the 21st Annual BMDA Conference "Diversity in Management" was a valuable forum for exploring the importance of diversity in management, and it contributed significantly to the advancement of knowledge and practice in the field. We look forward to the next BMDA conference and continuing the conversation on diversity and inclusion in different fields.
