A team of scientists from Riga Technical University Faculty of Civil and Mechanical Engineering Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering Institute, including Prof. Viktors Mironovs, Prof. Irina Boiko, researcher Vjačeslavs Zemčenkovs, and sc. assistant Jekaterina Kuzmina, visited the TU Wien (Technische Universität Wien) as part of the Erasmus+ program Teaching mobility at April 22 - 26.

The visit involved a teaching program focused on advanced materials, tribology, magnetic fields, perforated metals, and 3D printing technologies. The visit was characterized by a warm welcome and an enriching exchange of experiences, facilitated by TU Wien Univ. Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr. techn. Christian Gierl-Mayer from the Institute for Chemical Technologies and Analytics, Chemical Technology Research Area, and TU Wien. Univ.-Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr. techn. Dr.h.c.mult. Herbert Danninger, who conducts research projects on powder metallurgy, metallic sintered materials, sintering processes in metallic and hard metal systems, powder injection molding, and chemical surface treatment of metallic materials.

RTU and TU Wien are actively involved in advancing research in advanced materials and technologies. Consequently, the planned teaching activities introduced students and researchers at TU Wien to new and exciting areas within these fields.

By leveraging the research strengths of RTU and TU Wien, these teaching mobility aimed to expose participants to cutting-edge developments and practical applications in advanced materials and related technologies. This collaborative effort was designed to broaden the horizons of learning and research opportunities for the TU Wien community, fostering innovation and interdisciplinary exploration. The RTU team has opened up a new opportunity for student exchange programs, providing valuable practical experience. TU Wien is interested in organizing the international conference ISNNM 2026 International Symposium on Novel and Nano Materials with cooperation with RTU. The ISSNM 2024 is organized in Vienna, Austria.
