Līva Garkāje is Research assistant and PhD student in Riga Technical University Faculty of Architecture. Her thesis research topic is «Post-war Modern Movement (MOMO) architecture (1945-1990) in Latvian historical city streetscape». In 2016 she obtained M. Sc. Arch. degree, in 2014 Dipl. Arch degree and in 2012 B. Arch. degree from Riga Technical University.
Since 2014 she is working as a Researcher and Architect in architecture research and restoration office «Konvents» Ltd. in Riga, Latvia, and since 2019 she is working as a Project Manager, Researcher and Architect in architecture and building construction office «AB Studio» Ltd. In Jurmala, Latvia.
Her research interests include MoMo architecture heritage history, identification methods, preservation and revitalisation.
In 2017 she became a member of Docomomo International Latvian Chapter, as well as received State Culture Capital Foundation (SCCF) grant for individually designed Soviet housing in Riga, Latvia mapping and research. In 2015 together with «Konvents» Ltd. she was awarded Latvian Cultural Heritage Award 2015 in category «Cultural Heritage Research».
