More power in studies and science, more opportunities for students and faculty and the creation of a new educational ecosystem in Kurzeme - such changes are expected after the government decision on 1 March that Liepaja University (Liepāja University) will join Riga Technical University (RTU) as a separate structural unit, retaining its autonomy and the humanities and social sciences characteristic of the university.
For two years now, since the war in Ukraine, Riga Technical University (RTU) has been supporting Ukrainian students, lecturers and scientists who have taken refuge in Latvia and continue their work and studies here. RTU will continue to support Ukraine until the end of the war and beyond, when it is time to rebuild the country and repair the damage caused by the war.
The Ministry of Economics is ready to take responsibility for the further progress of the ambitious project, which envisages the establishment of a microchip competence centre, design and testing laboratory at Riga Technical University (RTU), and for finding the necessary source of funding - either in the form of reallocation of EU funds or state budget investments.
