The Faculty of Architecture is the first and was for a long time the only School of Architecture in Latvia. The School was founded in 1869 at Riga Polytechnicum – the first technical higher educational institution in the Baltic States. Over time, the School of Architecture has changed its names, affiliation, and locations; however, it has been able to successfully maintain tradition.
Today the Faculty of Architecture of Riga Technical University is not only the place to obtain professional qualification; it also provides the basis for the general development of architecture.
The priority of the Faculty of Architecture is the education and training of specialists for the Latvian market. However, we also recommend to our students to gain academic experience abroad and welcome international students to our Faculty for international study semesters.

The team of academics of the faculty of Architecture is formed of experienced professors and lecturers. There are a number of part-time lecturers involved in the study process, mostly practicing architects, willing to share their professional knowledge and skills with architectural students.
The students, researchers and academics of the Faculty of Architecture are open to collaborate and share ideas with various Latvia’s and foreign public and private organizations and companies.
