ORGANIZATION

BEST (the Board of European Students of Technology) is a non-political non-profit student association of European technological universities, which is registered in the EU and represented by 60 European universities. The goal of this organization is to develop and broaden the scope of students’ knowledge and vision, to diversify the possibilities of obtaining education and to offer the students international experience, to contribute to a successful career development, and to provide an insight into cultures of different European countries. Thus, students from different European countries can get acquainted with Latvia and students from Latvia, in their turn, can get better acquainted with Europe, find new friends, have fun and simultaneously get information on the issues they are interested in and improve their English language proficiency.

The slogan of BEST is «Promote Europe among Europeans».

BEST- RIGA

In 1993 BEST was joined by aspiring and progressively minded students of Riga Technical University, which led to the establishment of BEST-Riga. During 1993–2002, it operated in a status of an observer, however, in 2002 BEST-Riga became a full-fledged member of this organization.

Members of BEST-RIGA have not only participated in a number of activities outside Latvia, but are also planning and holding courses, culture exchanges and other events to facilitate cooperation among the numerous BEST groups across Europe. This is why we also invite you to join us!

COURSES

Each RTU student has an opportunity to participate in the wide range of annually organized BEST activities. These include special-purpose educational courses or interest group workshops all the year round. This allows students to amass international experience, establish new contacts, improve their English proficiency and have a great time! Every event is usually attended by about 20-30 engineering science students from Europe, who have one distinctive thing in common – the desire to take advantage of the unique personality-stretching experience offered by BEST!

Academic courses are free of charge; the only expenses you have to cover are traveling costs and related expenditures. The courses are on specific topics with lectures, practical work and company site visits. Besides educational programmes the courses also include different cultural and social events.

Non-academic or interest group courses on specific topics are focused on broadening cross-cultural awareness.
