Riga Technical University (RTU) is a state-founded derived public person with autonomous self-government rights. RTU Development Strategy determines the social role of the University as a tertiary education establishment and a research institution, its mission, vision, aims and tasks.

RTU is the only multi-field technical university in Latvia. At the moment there are almost 16 000 students studying here, including:
•    400 Doctoral degree students
•    3200 Master's degree students
•    10000 Bachelor's degree students
