The RTU offers academic and professional study programmes at three levels (cycles) – undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral studies, which corresponds to the guidelines set forth in the Bologne conference declaration on creating a single higher education space in the European Union.

1. UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES may be undertaken by persons having completed general or professional secondary education.

1.1. Undergraduate studies, or bachelor studies last from 3 to 4 years. Upon completion of the academic bachelor programme students are conferred the academic Bachelor degree in the branch of science represented by the programme.

1.2. Undergraduate professional studies last from 4 to 4.5 years. Upon completion of the programme students are conferred the 5th-level professional qualification in the branch of practical activity represented by the programme and, where the programme provides it so, also the Bachelor degree.

The graduates of undergraduate study programmes may continue studies in the postgraduate study programmes.

2. POSTGRADUATE STUDIES may be undertaken after undergraduate studies in the respective branch of academic science or practical activity.

2.1. Academic postgraduate studies, or Master studies last for 2 years. Master studies may be undertaken by persons having the academic or professional Bachelor degree, without any additional conditions.

Persons having acquired the 5th-level professional qualification upon completion of undergraduate studies may undertake postgraduate programmes, on condition that they have covered the compulsory subject courses in the academic Bachelor programme in the respective branch of science valued at least at 70 credits.

Upon completion of the academic Master programme students are awarded the academic Master degree in the branch of science represented by the programme.

2.2. Professional postgraduate (Master) studies last from 1 to 2 years and lead to the professional Master degree in the branch of practical activity represented by the programme.

For persons having the academic Bachelor degree, the studies in the professional master programme are prolonged by at least one year. Upon completion of the programme and fulfilment of additional prerequisites students are awarded the professional Bachelor degree and the 5th-level professional qualification in the branch of practical activity represented by the programme.

2.3. The RTU also offers a 2-year postgraduate professional study programme leading to the 5th-level professional qualification after completed undergraduate studies.

3. DOCTORAL STUDIES may be undertaken by persons with the academic or professional Master degree in the respective branch of science or practical activity.

The duration of studies in the Doctoral programme is 3 years. Upon completion of the Doctoral studies programme and presentation and defence of the Doctoral Thesis, the author is conferred the degree of Doctor of the respective branch of science represented by the programme.

Alongside with the programmes of the study levels referred to above the RTU also offers the 1st-level professional studies (college) programmes for applicants with general or professional secondary education. These programmes last from 2 to 3 years and lead to the 4th-level professional qualification.
